IPL 2020: Star Indian cricketer to miss the first half of IPL

By 9 months ago

Lately it seems as though team India is suffering from losing key players to injuries. This is not an isolated incident. There is always a news about an Indian player injuring himself and missing important events. The latest player to join this list is Ishant Sharma, who is due playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.

Rehab gone wrong for Sharma before IPL 2020

Ishant Sharma could not play the first match between India and New Zealand due to a recovering injury. Additionally, he did not go on-field during the second match as well since the injury once again resurfaced. The first test match that he played, he had secured a total of five wickets 22.2 overs. However, even after bagging five wickets, the Indian team was defeated by a margin of 10 wickets.

The NCA is under the radar due to another ankle injury flame-up. The Indian team’s management is yet to reveal the results of the scan. Now, the President of the BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, said that all players will need to undergo rehab only at National Cricket Academy. However, this does not seem to be the case with Ishant Sharma. It looks as though Sharma’s recovery period after a third grade injury was only for three weeks. This is not enough to recover from an injury as such.

Pushing the body too much is not healthy

There is a possibility that the the player took it upon himself to push his limits and return to the field. Therefore, he did not give his ankle enough time to heal. The next point which goes on to show there was something wrong with his rehab is his participation in competitive matches. It is necessary a player takes part in competitive matches before returning to the highest level of any sport. This ensures the body is pushed to conquer its limitations from every aspect.

Owing to these issues, as of now the reports say that Ishant Sharma will not be playing in the IPL 2020. If not anything else, he will definitely not be playing the first few matches of IPL 2020.
