April 14, 2020 6:07 pm

The Cricket Advisory Committee member Madan Lal admitted that it would be tough for MS Dhoni to make a comeback in the National team if IPL does not happen.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni last played for India in the semi-final match of the 2019 World Cup. The Indians lost to the Kiwis and were out of the league. MS was planning to return to competitive cricket based on his performance in IPL 2020

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the IPL being suspended for an indefinite time.

Talking about the same Madan Lal told ANI, “See, there are problems for MS Dhoni. He has not played cricket post-World Cup. If the IPL does not happen, problems for MSD will further increase. I don’t know what the team management, Ravi Shastri, Virat Kohli or the selectors are thinking,”

He further added, “The selector would want MS Dhoni to first play cricket and then they select him. Team management and selectors have a huge responsibility. I feel that problems have increased. MS has played a lot of cricket and he was one of the best captains. I think he should himself tell what he thinks to the selectors and then the selectors will be able to think,”

Holding IPL is very tough: Madan Lal

The World-Cup winning player also expressed his views on the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Earlier the BCCI had decided to commence the tournament from April 15. However, with the country under lockdown till May 3, the chances of IPL looks grim in the near future.

Madan Lal revealed, “Till the time coronavirus is not over, holding IPL is very tough because it is very big and the safety of our viewers is very important and also, how will our players travel from one city to another?”

“So, there are a lot of problems at the moment. Till the time the government gives clearance, I feel it is tough. For the BCCI and franchises also, it is tough. Need to see what results come by April 30. It will be better if the BCCI and the franchises find a solution,”, he said.
