The fate of IPL 2020 is uncertain owing to the spread of coronavirus in the world. However, BCCI and the IPL franchise are not ready to let go off the tournament this year. They are hoping to organize the cash-rich league at some stage in the future.

BCCI had earlier decided to start the IPL 2020 from the postponed date April 15. But with the 21 days lockdown in the country, things have become difficult. The stakeholders have been keeping a close watch at the situation.

There was a proposal of hosting the league without the foreign players but it has turned down by the BCCI. Therefore, BCCI is in constant touch with the cricket boards of Australia, England, South, and others.

A BCCI official revealed, “While various options have been discussed like a closed-door tournament, or a curtailed one, it is almost clear that everyone wants foreign players to be a part of the IPL and that is one of the major highlights of the tournament,”

He further added, “So, we have been constantly updating the boards of the situation here and the directives that are being issued by the health department as well as the government in the fight against coronavirus.”

“It is a two-way process as international border lockdown is also an aspect that needs to be kept in mind because at the end of the day whenever the IPL does happen, the foreign players need to fly in,”
