KL Rahul Auctions World Cup Bat to Raise Funds for Vulnerable Children

The Indian cricketers have been helping the government in fighting against the novel coronavirus by donating money to the PM Cares Relief Fund. Players like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, and Rohit Sharma have already done their bid by making huge donations. The new addition to this list is Indian batsman KL Rahul. 

The COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc in the country. More than 17,656 people have been tested positive for the virus while nearly 559 have lost their lives till now. As a result, the central government extended the 21 days lockdown till May 3. The lockdown was earlier supposed to finish on April 14. 

On Saturday (April 18), KL Rahul celebrated his 28th birthday. KL used this opportunity to announce his support to the underprivileged and needy children. He has taken the decision of donating his cricket accessories to raise funds for vulnerable children.

KL Rahul helps the underprivileged children

On the auspicious occasion of his birthday, Rahul made the announcement of donating his Test jersey, ODI jersey, T20 jersey, his 2019 World Cup bat and some other gears.

Rahul and his brand Gully collaborated with the Bharat Army to complete this noble cause. All the funds collected will go to the Aware Foundation which takes care of the vulnerable children.

In the video uploaded by Bharat Army, KL Rahul quoted “Since it’s a special day for me, I and Gully have decided to something very sweet and something very special. I have decided to donate my cricket pads, my gloves, helmets and some of my jerseys to our collaboration partner Bharat Army. They are going to auction these things out and the funds will go towards the Aware Foundation. It’s a foundation that looks towards helping children. It is very special and I couldn’t pick a better day to do this,” 

He further added, “Go on check out the auction and show some love for me and the children and let’s stay strong together during this difficult time and all of us will come out of this stronger,”
