Now that Dhoni is going to play IPL 2020, this might be a good chance for him to be selected for the T20 World Cup. He has not played a single competitive event since the 2019 World Cup, therefore, he is not a part of this season’s BCCI contracts either. When the contracts were released, a number of his fans showed how disappointed they were.

On the other hand, Kapil Dev is not truly amused that Dhoni might be selected for the World Cup team without playing competitive matches. He believes that any player on break for this long should at least play a couple of competitive events. Obviously, Kapil Dev is appreciative of the way Dhoni plays, but he also feels that if the selection committee fixates on Dhoni, they might not notice the fresh talent on-field.
