Former Pakistan batsman Shahid Afridi slammed the Indian citizens for criticizing Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
The coronavirus pandemic has made the survival of humans difficult. The world is constantly fighting this deadly virus and is undergoing a lockdown period. More than 19,35,640 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 while 1,20,914 have lost their lives globally.
In these testing times, many cricketers have come forward to help the society and government fight the novel coronavirus. Similarly, cricketer, Shahid Afridi is also doing his bit by helping the needy and underprivileged in Pakistan through his foundation, ‘The Shahid Afridi Foundation’.
The controversy sparked when two former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh supported the Pakistan player in this noble deed. Both Yuvraj and Harbhajan urged the citizens of India to donate for the organization.
However, things went for the toss when a few Indians started trolling Yuvi and Bhaji for supporting a Pakistani foundation. Though later Yuvraj clarified that they did it only for humanity’s sake and not for helping a Pakistani. He also urged people to think above religion in these difficult times.
Now, Shahid Afridi opened up on the controversy on his Foundation. He ridiculed the Indian trollers for slamming Yuvraj and Harbhajan.
He also added that nobody from Pakistan had criticized him when he had made a donation to the foundation of Yuvraj Singh. Apparently, Afridi had donated a handsome amount of 10,000 USD to Yuvraj Singh’s foundation which provides treatment to cancer patients.
A senior Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq tweeted Afridi’s statement.
It read, “Shahid Afridi ‘When I was in Canada, I went to support Yuvraj Singh’s foundation and announced a donation of $10,000 for it. Everyone in Pakistan supported me and nobody said to me why did you make that donation, why are you supporting India’”.
