Sri Lanka T20I captain, Lasith Malinga, will always find a way to break a batsman’s defences. His yorker is the deadly weapon that every batsman is aware of. In fact, during his prime Malinga was considered as one of the deadliest bowlers of cricket. His yorkers have dismissed several quality batsmen. Now, even though his powers are declining as he ages, as of now he is reminding everyone that his yorkers still have the same potential as before. The latest victim of the yorker is Andre Russell.

This was during the first T20I between West Indies and Sri Lanka. Andre Russell constantly kept creating pressure for the home side. His destructive batting was proving to become a nuisance for Sri Lanka. Fortunately, Lasith Malinga drops a brilliant yorker during the 16th over. This puts an end to Andre Russell’s batting.

Andre Russell had to exit the field after scoring 35 runs from 14 balls. His striking rate during his dismissal was recorded to be 226.37. Therefore, his stay for the last fives over was of utmost importance to the team. On the other hand, players such as Simmons and Kieran Pollard put up showcases of brilliant performances. Simmons score for the match stands at 67 runs (not out) while that of Kieran Pollard is at 34 runs from 15 balls. In fact, the partnership between Lendl Simmons and Brandon King really put West Indies on the winning track. Their partnership score stands at 74 runs from 8.2 overs.

However, even though Russell was dismissed, West Indies still won the game. The total score for them was 196 runs for four wickets. This is the highest score for West Indies in the T20I’s against Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan team was bowled out at 171 runs allowing the West Indies team to win by 25 runs.
