MS Dhoni is not in the ideal situation to actually make a comeback to the Indian cricket team. The former skipper has not been to the field for a single competitive event since the 2019 World Cup semi-finals. His due comeback to the field was scheduled during the IPL 2020. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus outbreak is severe enough now to cancel or delay the cash-rich event. Right now, it does not seem like Dhoni will be able to show his form anytime soon.

Sehwag comments about the possibility of MS Dhoni making a comeback to the Indian team

Virender Sehwag addresses this point and points to the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. During Dhoni’s absence, both Pant and Rahul tried out for the wicket-keeping position. While Pant did not receive positive feedback, it was Rahul who manages to make an impact. However, both of them are strong players with skills suitable for the wicketkeeper-batsman position. At this Sehwag points out that as of now it is going to difficult for MS Dhoni to secure a spot in the team.

Virat Kohli receives Sehwag’s support

On the other hand, Virender Sehwag put his opinion about Virat Kohli forward as well. He says that every player goes through a phase where the performance levels are low. However, it is possible to make a comeback when the time comes.

“He [Kohli] is a class batsman but that has happened to all the great batsmen in different eras be it Sachin Tendulkar, Steven Waugh, Jacques Kallis or Ricky Ponting.”
