On this day (June 25), 37 years ago, India became the World Champion for the first time. The Kapil Dev led team won the finals against West Indies in 1983 and won their first-ever World Cup. The win at Lord’s was unexpected and it changed the way the game of cricket was looked upon in the country. A lot of current and former Indian cricketers took it to twitter to celebrate the 37th anniversary of India’s maiden World Cup win. Veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also paid tribute to the 1983 World Cup winners. He wished the squad for their great achievement.

However, Indian team current head coach Ravi Shastri took a friendly dig at Yuvraj Singh for not tagging him and Kapil Dev in his (Yuvraj’s) post. Shastri was one of the younger stars of the World Cup winning squad of 1983. Shastri replied on Yuvraj’s post,  “Thanks, Junior! You can tag me and Kaps also @therealkapildev.”

Yuvraj Singh comments on Ravi Shastri’s post

On April 2, 2020, Shastri had paid tribute to the 2011 World Cup team for being the World Champions. He had tweeted, “Many Congratulations Guys! Something you will cherish all your life. Just like we from the 1983 group #WorldCup2011 – @sachin_rt @imVkohli,”

However, Ravi didn’t tag MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh in his congratulatory post. This didn’t go well with the former all-rounder as he took a jibe at Shastri’s post. Quoting Ravi’s tweet, Yuvraj had replied, “Thanks, senior! U can tag me and Mahi also we were also part of it,”
