CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is clearly one of the most anticipated titles of the year. The game rolled out today, but the path to its release was full of hurdles.

The studio had announced the title in 2013, and fans have been patiently waiting for its release since. They’ve also sat through multiple delays to get their hands on the title that has been referred to as the finest entry in the modern decade.

The game has received mixed reviews, which is rather surprising. Despite that, CD Projekt RED’s title has broken several single-player title records on Steam, Twitch, and other platforms as the mad rush continues.

Cyberpunk 2077 breaks several records on launch day

It didn’t take long for the game to break past the illustrious 1 million concurrent players barrier. On achieving this, Cyberpunk has joined a list of elite titles that have previously achieved the same feat. Titles like Fortnite, Valorant, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are ahead in the list.

However, Cyberpunk 2077 remains the only single-player game to beat the million concurrent mark on Steam. The next title on the list, Terraria, reached a peak of 489,886. But this isn’t half of the number Cyberpunk has reached on its launch day.

Bethesda’s Fall Out 4 had also held this record back in 2015 with 472,962 people playing the open-world title.

Cyberpunk 2077 has also become just the eighth to reach the 1 million mark on Twitch, with over 1,140,960 spectators at its peak.

The numbers for sure will go down as the first day comes to a delightful end, but it is certain that we will see a significant rise in numbers as the players get deeper in the game, enabling Cyberpunk to cement itself as one of the finest entries in the history of video games.
