David Coulthard Recalls A Hilarious Story Involving Kimi Raikkonen

Kimi Raikkonen is known to be a drivers who loves to party and to drink alcohol as well. Several stories have been told about Kimi Raikkonen the party animal and his drunk escapades. Earlier, after the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix, the Finn was spotted leaving a hotel, dead drunk.

In fact, he was holding a bottle of alcohol in one hand and a glass in the other. The glass slipped from his hand and broke, and he never even noticed.

Former McLaren and Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, spoke about a hilarious incident involving the Finn. The scene was at Ron Dennis’ 60th birthday and Coulthard and Raikkonen were teammates at the time. Kimi Raikkonen decided to do a stage dive and so did TAG CEO Mansour Ojjeh’s wife. Ojjeh’s TAG owns a 21% stake with McLaren.

Coulthard was unsure of who to catch and he caught her instead of Kimi. Raikkonen went down and wasn’t moving and they stopped the music to see if Kimi was alright.

After not moving for a few minutes he got up unscathed and told Coulthard, “You’re not a teammate, you’re a kusipää”. The enraged driver decided to punch DC, but after some vodka, he was fine.

Are there other stories about a drunk Kimi Raikkonen?

There are actually plenty of stories where Raikkonen got ‘wasted’ and did some crazy stunts. Former F1 driver Karun Chandhok reminisced one incident in Tokyo when he encountered a wild and drunk Kimi Raikkonen.

Apparently, he was craving some curry and wanted Chandhok to take him to a place that served curry. Unfortunately, the Indian did not know where to take the inebriated Finnish driver.

The bad news for Chandhok was that Kimi was not taking no for an answer. So he grabbed the Indian by the head and threw him to the ground with a wrestling grip. That day, a valuable lesson was learnt, “Never mess with a drunk Kimi Raikkonen”.
