Statisticians in the media box in Nagpur might have had to pick their brains when Deepak Chahar finished Sunday night’s cricket with a hat trick. He finished with a figures of 7-6, which is now the best in T20s surpassing Ajanta Mendis’s 6-8. The list also features Yuzvendra Chahal, Rashid Khan and Ranganna Herath.

His hat trick to finish the match and win the series was also the first by an Indian in T20 Internationals. This will also see him join the list of very few Indian bowlers to have claimed a hat trick.

India succeeded in clinching the three match series 2-1, after a defeat in the first match. While Deepak Chahar’s performance sealed it for India, there were other noteworthy performances including a half century from Shreyas Iyer. Shivam Dube was also extremely handy with the ball and there was a moment when he turned the match to India’s favour with two wickets in two balls.
