BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had recently confirmed that they, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are all set to discuss of hosting a four-nation “Super Series”. However, the teams have not decided yet. This is an attempt to prevent ICC’s idea of hosting an ICC event every year. As per the other boards, this will not help regarding the revenue generated from bilateral series. The annual tournament proposed by the BCCI will include the “big three” teams — India, England and Australia apart from a fourth team.

Recently, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also admitted the news. “We meet regularly with other leaders from the major cricketing nations to share learnings and discuss topics that impact our sport. A four-nation tournament was raised at a meeting with the BCCI in December and we are open to discussions with other ICC members to see if this concept can develop,” the ECB said in a statement given to ESPNCricinfo.

The proposed event will take place at the beginning of 2021 and the nations will host the event on a rotational basis. Although, this has divided opinions too as the involving teams are all set to earn big money. The ICC doesn’t approve those tournaments where more than three teams involved.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has already talked about the tournament. The ECB has also acknowledged the discussion but Cricket Australia is yet to comment on the matter. On the other hand, Australia head coach Justin Langer said on Tuesday that if this event takes place, it will make the year more crowded.
