What are the new WW2 weapons in Escape From Tarkov?

On May 9, which marks the Victory Day in Russia, Battlestate Games’ official Twitter account unveiled the latest additions from World War 2 era to their game. In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory against the Nazis in WW2, the developers added the Shpagin PPSH-41 submachine gun and the Colt M1911 pistol. Both the legendary firearms are regular features in most first-person-shooter games. Now, the Escape From Tarkov player base has the chance to relish both the new inclusions.

The PPSH-41 SMG played a significant role in the Soviet Armed Forces’ defeat of Nazi Germany. Made of stamped steel, it’s historical variants typically load either a  35-round box or 71-round drum magazine. It fires 7.62x25mm Tokarev pistol rounds. The SMG is deadly at close and somewhat mid ranges but ineffective at long range. Many countries have used different variants of this weapon in combat since 1941, and few still do to this day.

On the other hand, the Colt M1911 semi-automatic pistol served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. It takes a .45 ACP cartridge, and there are many modern variants available, including custom and civilian models. Several countries still use their variants of the pistol, and many more have done so in the past.
