Colossal Success of Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise Gives Capcom It’s Highest Net Sales Ever First Quarter

Capcom Co. Ltd announced its business result for three months. Capcom achieved its very first highest net sales and the highest level of profit for the first quarter. The net sale was up by 104.1%, sales volume (home video game) was up by 44.6%, ordinary income was up by 125%, and operating income was up by 120.4%. The main reason behind this growth is the major success of Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter as well as the continued digital sales growth.

  • Operating income- 23,604 million yen
  • Ordinary income- 23,899 million yen
  • Net income- 17,340 million yen
  • Earnings per share- 81.22 yen

  • Operating income- 10,711 million yen
  • Ordinary income- 10,619 million yen
  • Net income- 7,815 million yen

Earning forecast – 31 March 2022 (fiscal year)

  • Net Sale- 100,00 million yen
  • Operating Income- 42,000 million yen
  • Ordinary Income- 42,000 million yen
  • Earnings per share-104.52 yen

The company’s latest series Resident Evil Village was a great hit. It was released in May (for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC.) Not only Resident Evil Village but Monster Hunter also got a lot of good responses from the players. It was released at the end of the fiscal year and continued to grow the sales volume due to its increasing popularity.

To gain more audience, the company also worked hard to show all the major titles at E3 2021. It was a grand online event, held on June 2021. Furthermore, the company’s catalog titles performed quite well, especially all the series titles. As a result, the net sales were up by 104.5% and operating income was up by 107.2%.

The company also rolled out some new initiatives such as capsule toys. The company also focused a lot on promoting the sale of character merchandise. To expand the users globally, the company organized Capcom pro tour 2021. It was a virtual tour across 19 different regions. The event was first started on April 2021 in Japan. It also organized the Street Fighter V Tournament and Intel World Open in June 2021.

Talking about the mobile content, the profit was due to the licensing revenue. It was utilizing the company’s top intellectual property.
