Multiplayer mode is a major aspect of gaming. This mode not only tests your ability and skills among fellow players but also builds a strong bond among players, be it PvP or co-op. But months ago, Nintendo shut down the multiplayer mode of two popular games, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon, because of major issues.
If you are sad about it, don’t be, because Nintendo has your back. Nintendo is bringing the servers for these two games online again and you will be able to enjoy the fun ride of the multiplayer journey of these games again.

Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon: Multiplayer Mode Is Back
Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon are two of the most popular Nintendo titles. Single-player campaigns in these games are fun, but the multiplayer modes are something else. In the multiplayer mode of Mario Kart 8, you get three game types: Grand Prix, Battle, and vs. Race. Each game type offers different gameplay. On the other hand, Splatoon multiplayer mode offers exciting 4v4 battles from a third-person perspective. There is also a co-op multiplayer mode.

But out of nowhere, the online servers of both Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon were shut down in March 2023. Nintendo has stated the reason behind this immediate action was “vulnerability related to online play.”
According to reliable dataminer OatMealDome, this vulnerability is known as ENLBufferPwn. In this situation, the common network code present on someone’s Nintendo game could be operated remotely by the hackers.
Starting on 03/08, we will be resuming online play for the Wii U games Splatoon and Mario Kart 8. We appreciate your patience during the extended wait.

But the good thing is that servers for these two games will be online again on August 3, 2023. Fans can again enjoy the multiplayer modes, but in order to do that, they have to download a new update.
Also, there are some further warnings from Nintendo. If any further issues, like the online vulnerability, persist in the future, the servers of Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon could go into permanent shutdown to ensure the complete security of Nintendo users. However, offline single-player mode will continue to work normally.
