There’s a brand new, Japanese-themed map coming to the game in Ashika Island. It will serve the Resurgence mode, which will make its return after a long time since the days of the original Warzone. This island will consist of 7 main POIs (points of interest) from which players can decide to choose their favorite, best landing spots upon the launch of Season 2.

Furthermore, Call of Duty Warzone 2 will also have a new feature called Restore Honor. Plus, a new contract called Search and Seizure will also be making its appearance. Most importantly, the Gulag will shift back to a 1v1 format, compared to the existing 2v2. What’s more? Well, there won’t be any backpacks this time, which means that looting will be better in Season 2.

DMZ specific updates and changes

Players will receive a complete reset of all the missions they have finished so far in Season 1. To be precise, there will be a clean wipe of their progression. Although the wipe will reset the Contrabend weapons and Keys, the Insured Weapon Slots will remain unchanged, along with any other permanent content earned in Season 1.

Similar to the battle royale mode of Warzone 2, DMZ will also feature both Al Mazrah as well as Ashika Island for its missions. Players will get the options to choose the map of their choice before starting a match. Interestingly, they will be able to access Building 21 anytime they want, when going into the extraction based mode. This is a major upgrade as it isn’t the case at all in the ongoing season.

The Multiplayer setup will receive four new maps, out of which two are dedicated battle maps – Zaya Observatory and Al Malik International airport. The remaining core maps in Dome and Valderas Museum will serve the regular 6v6 modes. Moreover, Hardcore and Ranked Play will return in Season 2 from the previous entries. When it comes to crucial MP modes arriving in the next update, they are Infected, Grind, and All or Nothing. Gun Game, One in the Chamber, and Drop Zone will also be there.

Speaking of Ranked Play in detail, it will now have something called Skill Rating (SR). It will determine the players’ skill division they belong to based on the results of every ranked match they play. Winning a battle will increase the skill rating while losing will result in a reduced rating. This is how players will be able to know their skill division going by the SR. Speaking of the eight ranks, then they are called the following:
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Crimson
  • Iridescent
  • Top 250
