Arsenal Player Oleksandr Zinchenko Makes an Angel Investment for the Ukrainian Counter-Strike Scene

What makes esports and gaming stand out from other competitions is the unlimited potential for competition. It does not matter if you are a student or an athlete, everyone can compete, provided they have the skills to back it up. Over the last few years, a lot of athletes have come out in support of e-sports. From Neymar’s love for Counter-Strike: Global to Luka Dončić incredible talent at Overwatch, there is no shortage of athletes that support gaming. It looks like there is a new name joining the list.

Arsenal player Oleksandr Zinchenko showed his support for Ukrainian Counter-Strike as he bought a team for the e-sport. His idea is to create a team as passionate about CS as he is.

Zinchenko brings a big investment to Ukrainian Counter-Strike

The CIS region in Europe is a big part of the gaming industry. It brought forth a lot of teams and superstar players to the esports scene of many games. With this recent investment, Oleksandr Zinchenko laid the foundations of a new org to life called Passion UA. Zinchenko, a Ukrainian national, is a gamer. To show support for his country’s esports scene, he decided to invest in the Ukrainian Counter-Strike. The name itself emerged as a way of making the soccer star’s direction for the team.

In a statement, the org released on its website, Zinchenko had a message for fans. He said, “Passion UA was born out of my own deep-seated love for gaming and my desire to contribute to the growth of esports in my home country, Ukraine. Just as I’ve worked tirelessly to improve my football skills, I am committed to building a world-class esports organization that will stand tall among the giants of the industry.”

Additionally, Zinchenko got Mikhaylo “⁠Kane⁠” Blagin on board. The former Counter-Strike player has a lot of experience under his belt. He led Virtus.pro and pro100 during his days in the title. Moreover, he coached Natus Vincere in the past and went on to win a major with Gambit.

Zinchenko’s investment in the Ukrainian Counter-Strike scene is a big step forward, especially with the number of pros the country gifted CS 1.6 and CS: GO. Players such as S1mple and b1t are just two talents in a vast pool of players hailing from the region. Who knows, maybe we could see the two join the roster in the future.
