Now, a latest leak from renowned scooper Bob, on X (formerly Twitter), has revealed that after next year’s Call of Duty, Treyarch will come out with yet another Black Ops entry. And that it will reportedly carry forward the story of BO 2024. Now that sounds exactly how Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare II is going to witness a direct sequel later this year in Modern Warfare III.

Moreover, what’s interesting to note is that Bob also claims that 2025’s rumored Black Ops will receive launch maps in a similar fashion to MWIII. For those who don’t know, the upcoming title from Sledgehammer will have remastered maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. And 2025’s game is also expected to have a set of remastered maps, straight from Black Ops 2. The latter is an iconic, fan-favorite installment from more than a decade ago.

So it means that Activision may continue with its surprising approach of delivering two consecutive games from a single sub-series. In 2023, it’s going to be Modern Warfare III which is coming right after its predecessor MWII. And considering Bob’s tweet, it looks like like Treyarch will also deliver two back-to-back Black Ops entries in 2024 and 2025.

Right now, there’s no clear information available on the story of Black Ops 2024. However, there are high chances for fans to witness the characters from 2020’s Cold War making an appearance, once again.

As for COD 2025, nothing substantial is out yet except for the aforementioned leak. It will be interesting to see how Activision handles the new approach of delivering back-to-back games from a single franchise. But again, this is just a rumor for now and one should take it with a grain of salt unless there comes an official announcement.
