Since its highly awaited arrival in 2022, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has been in the news for endless reasons. Despite being a blockbuster release in terms of establishing sales records, most of the players have given it a lukewarm response. That could be due to the lack of content, going by the general consensus. That’s why the makers are now leaving no stone unturned in making it better and outstanding, to say the least.

Call of Duty will be dropping a new season very soon. Previously, the update was expected to make its debut at the beginning of February. But then, it got pushed a little further. Anyways, talking about what it will offer, then there seems to be a lot to get hyped for, especially for the fans of Modern Warfare II’s Multiplayer mode. With the arrival of Season 2, they will witness tons of changes, for example, having the Ranked Play back in the franchise. It wasn’t initially revealed in MWII last year. But now, it is coming back with the most amazing updates and a complete transition.

Going by the official blog detailing the features for the upcoming update, the new overhaul to the Rank system “puts more weight and reward on winning matches, as well as how Rank and Skill Divisions are represented”. What is Skill Rating?

In Season 2, Call of Duty Multiplayer users will receive Skill Rating (SR) while engaging in the matches. Based on a certain SR they get, they will be able to see which Skill Division they belong to. SR will be determined based on every match played by the users. Simply put, winning a battle will increase the skill rating while losing will result in a reduced rating. This is how players will be able to know their skill division going by the skill rating. Here’s a better overview:

  • Bronze: 0-899 SR
  • Silver: 900-2,099 SR
  • Gold: 2,100-3,599 SR
  • Platinum: 3,600-5,399 SR
  • Diamond: 5,400-7,499 SR
  • Crimson: 7,500-9,999 SR
  • Iridescent: 10,000 SR minimum
  • Top 250: 10,000+ SR

When it comes to winning rewards, then succeeding in more matches will bring increased opportunities to earn lucrative items. Winning a single match will award one star. If players manage to win more battles, they will be able to accumulate a large number of stars. They will be necessary to jump to higher ranks. There will be a total of 50 ranks to unlock in Season 2. Furthermore, every five Ranks will award a new symbol that will appear in the color of a player’s Skill Division. And yes, Ranks won’t reset between Ranked Seasons, unlike Skill Division.

Moreover, reaching every 5 Ranks will give the players a great opportunity to grab attractive rewards. They will receive new Operator skins, emblem, and a lot more stuff. Gold and above Skill Division players will be able to get special rewards while the number one player, among all the users, will receive an additional bonus reward.

Coming onto the part of features, then Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s Ranked Play will have a system of preventing players from disconnecting randomly. If the number of players in both teams is uneven, the match won’t start. Also, if someone decides to quite just before the match, then the remaining players will return to the lobby and the match will not count.

Activision‘s MWII is now available worldwide. It will receive the Season 2 update on February 15th, 2023.
