In simple words, we can say that Social Strand System is a feature that gives players the freedom to leave some handy equipment or even signs behind to help other players. For instance, if a player builds a bridge to cross a big pond or river, there is a huge possibility that the helping bridge will be shown to other players in their respective worlds.

The other player can use the same bridge to cross the river easily. They can also give thumbs up to the helping equipment or construction (such as a bridge) if they found it useful or handy. Players can also friend other players if they want to merge their two different worlds together.
