Doom Eternal is getting a new update with a Horde mode

This new update will be update 6.66 for Doom Eternal and will be launched on October 26, just a few days from now. During a live stream, Hugo Martin, the game director, explained a few things about the upcoming update and revealed the first mission of Horde mode. The said Battlemode would let you and your friend or a random player control demons. You will be pitted against a fully-armed Doom slayer in round-based fights that have been tweaked. You will get to see a whole new arena and streak-based rewards. All of this sounds interesting and might attract a lot of new and old players back to the game. There even will be two new Master levels as well.

Previously, the developers had planned a multiplayer Invasion mode but decided to go with the Horde mode instead. Doom Eternal’s executive producer Marty Stratton had justified Invasion’s cancellation by saying, “the unforeseen consequences of the pandemic and remote working impacted the progress of development for this addition. Over this time, we have also seen and heard how many of you enjoy the range of gameplay and combat available in the expansions and master levels. With these factors in mind, we have decided to redirect our focus from Invasion Mode to creating a totally new single-player horde mode.”
