Destiny 2 recently faced one of the most significant bugs in its history. Bugs have always been present in games. While developers do their best to provide the smoothest possible experience, it’s 99.99% at best. Even Starfield, which was hyped as Bethesda’s least-buggy game, has its fair share of glitches. And on a similar note, Destiny 2 has a bug. Surprisingly though, fans are enjoying it.

In an update on the situation, the devs at Bungie mentioned their plans to fix the bug. Upon hearing this, many fans changed their opinion on the exploitable bug. While the bug was a major concern of the player base, the news of fixing the bug changed their perspective. Many realized how the bug introduced new excitement to the game and the community was left divided again.

The bug allows players to create weapons with game-breaking perks, resulting in overpowered gameplay experiences. This bug affected both player vs. environment (PvE) activities and player vs. player (PvP) modes. Players could exploit the bug to merge weapon frames, such as putting shotgun frames on auto rifles. This unconventional combination drastically reduces the time-to-kill in PvP, making it extremely unfair for opponents. This made PvP game modes extremely chaotic and fans started raising their concerns on social media.

The devs at Bungie have finally addressed the bug and have started to implement changes. The first of multiple updates has been released and fans have mixed feelings about the fix. Bungie announced they will temporarily disable a few selected exotic and legendary frames. And players will notice the same change for the perks added to the guns in the game.

While some fans absolutely hated that the game was broken, others enjoyed the glitches and called the bug “Lazer Tag 2.0”. This name was given with reference to the time when the Prometheus Lens was introduced to the Crucible game mode, breaking the game once before.

The glitch was a bug that needed to be fixed. And many fans stood against the idea of getting it fixed. The glitch introduced an arcade-y element to the game, which players seemed to have enjoyed. One player took his thoughts to Twitter and called the devs “fun police”. And the comments section of the post by Bungie started flooding with fan opinions and suggestions.

Destiny 2 players want the exploit back as a feature

Although initially, most players wanted the bug removed, many started to enjoy the fast-paced gameplay that the exploit provided. Many players went on to say that the bug became the reason for some of the most fun moments they had experienced in the game.

With many players sad about the bug going away, one user started a poll on Twitter to get the consensus.

Many players decided that they would like to see the bug return as a feature. Meanwhile, one player believes that the bug was fun for a while but should not be a permanent addition to the game.

Another user posted a poll asking the crowd if they would miss the bug. Most of the replies to the poll voted “Yes”, sharing the community’s opinion with the devs at Bungie.
