The “I am Legend” sequel will take a lot of visual features from the current “The Last of Us” series, which Goldsman is a big fan of. The ongoing video game adaptation on HBO would be an excellent source of inspiration to create the post-apocalyptic setting of the sequel. Also, this sequel would take place a few years after the 2007-released film.

Goldsman reported to Deadline, “I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as a man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens?”
