It looks like PlayStation 5 will have a long list of Marvel games. The 2018 Marvel’s Spiderman game for PlayStation 4 from Insomniac paved the way for much bigger Marvel games than both the companies had envisioned.

The success and popularity of the 2018 game instilled confidence in both Sony and Marvel to proceed with more Marvel titles. And now, if rumors are to be believed, Sony is working on another Marvel title for the PlayStation 5. While the details of this alleged title are still sparse, the approach is already beginning to look enthralling.

PlayStation 5: rumors state Insomniac Games is working on a new Marvel game

This new title should not be confused with the previously teased Wolverine game at Sony’s State of Play event. Officially, Insomniac is currently working on two Marvel titles, Spider-Man 2 and The Wolverine. 

However, some new reports now state that Marvel and Sony are once again joining hands for a new game. On the XboxEra podcast, co-founder Nick Baker suggested that the PlayStation 5 developer is developing another multiplayer game.

Baker said, “I have been told that there is a… multiplayer Marvel game allegedly in the works, that will probably be a PS5-exclusive. Between my source and I, we speculate that the studio possibly making this game is Insomniac Games. This is speculation.”

If this rumor does come to be true, the game might have a release date of 2024 or beyond. Baker did state that the game will be a multiplayer title, which means that we could take control of more than one Marvel superhero. 

While there are a lot of different characters in Marvel comics to choose from, the Fantastic Four might be a great start. Another thing we don’t know yet is the name of the studio that will be working on this rumored game.

Currently, Insomniac is developing two new games, as has been mentioned before, and it doesn’t seem like Sony would want to burden them with a third project. Square Enix will be coming out with the Guardians of the Galaxy game, but it doesn’t seem like Sony will entrust them with the project.

We will have to wait for any official confirmation from Sony and the studios involved. So take this with loads of salt. That said, this is intriguing news nonetheless.
