Massive Sony Subscription Move Unsettles PlayStation Fans – “Sounds More Like What Nintendo Offers..”

The Xbox ecosystem has provided players with a plethora of features that are bound to excite. One of the major advantages Microsoft offers to gamers is the Xbox Game pass. Rather than having to purchase each game individually, for a monthly subscription fee, users get access to a vast library of games. Well, PlayStation is now ready to play ball with its fresh PlayStation Plus rebrand.

This revamped service offers a swathe of nifty features designed to excite fans. With three different tiers of services, there’s something for everyone. And so far, fans have had some interesting reactions to the news.

PlayStation Plus rebrand garners a lot of fan attention

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially unveiled the PlayStation Plus service. With a June 2022 launch date, it would notably offer three tiers of services to users. Significantly, the service offers a library of over 700 titles alongside other neat features and services. The announcement came by the way of a blog post by SIE President Jim Ryan who noted:

“This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally.”

Additionally, Ryan mentioned they are collaborating with in-house studios and third-party partners to include some terrific gaming experiences with a regularly refreshing library. Furthermore, they plan to include smash hits like Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal at launch.

There are three tiers available to users: PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium. Ryan stated, “Our focus is on providing high-quality, curated content with a diverse portfolio of games.”

Fan reaction has been mixed, to say the least. With cloud streaming and PS3 compatibility comprise, most of the fan complaints.
