There’s a famous saying, once a legend, always a legend. This has been the case for some of the classic games, as they still rule over the United States’ markets.

 

On May 24, a Twitter user shared a photo of the played games of Q1 2022 in the U.S., and you might be pretty amazed by some of the names. After all, the gaming industry has seen a sharp incline over the past few years, with companies constantly delivering content.

Players all around the world have reported a better gaming experience in terms of gameplay, graphics, storyline, videography, and character skills. So, in this article, we look at ten such games that have registered themselves higher than others.

Elden Ring is nowhere near in the Most played Games in Q1 2022

The first half of 2022 became a grand success for some of the classic titles, as it got reported by the video game industry advisor Mat Piscitella. He wrote about it in his Twitter post, alongside a photo, saying, ‘Here are the top 10 most played games of Q1 2022 in the U.S. ranked by year of the initial release. (Source: The NPD Group’s PlayerPulse)’ The photo mentioned that Minecraft had topped the list, followed by GTA 5, The Sims 4

, and Fortnite.

What remained shocking to him was the ranking of the recent Japanese video game Elden Ring. Elden Ring was one of the most anticipated games of this year, as the game took about five years to develop. Mat also mentioned it in the post, saying, ‘Elden Ring ranked 20th. Ahead of it were games like Rocket League, World of WarCraft, and Skyrim.’

Drastic Change in the gaming industry!

The ones who have been around in this industry know the love the mentioned games have. The leaderboard champion, Minecraft, was released 13 years back but is the most played game in the United States. On the other hand, Rockstar’s GTA 5 came out nine years back, but the game still has over 169,000 daily viewers. 

In conclusion, even though new games have been released in recent years, fans are more connected to the classics.
