The debut of Call of Duty Warzone 2 was highly anticipated last year. However, the way it has turned out is quite disappointing to say the least. No matter what the devs do, they have failed to keep the players engaged in this battle royale, which was highlighted as the game under the ‘new era’ of the action franchise.

Seems like nothing is going right for the title at the moment. It’s not hidden from anyone that its overall player count has been falling down for the past few months. Some speculations indicated towards a rise in the numbers following the arrival of Ranked Play as it was extremely requested by the community. Sadly, even the competitive mode can’t do anything to rescue this game. At least that’s what the latest stats have revealed.

Generally it’s not possible to track the player count for the battle royale. Thanks to the release of the game on Steam, though, now it is very easy to see how the title’s been performing since its awaited release in November 2022. And it looks like the situation has gone from bad to worse for the sequel to the original Warzone.

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, Call of Duty Warzone 2 had nearly 500,000 peak concurrent players during November at one point. And the average was above 220,000 players. Since then, the figure has been falling down consistently. According to the website SteamCharts, the battle royale just had an average of over 65,000 players in the past month.

In other words, the game witnessed a loss of 15,000 more users when compared to the month of April when it had over 81,000 players. These numbers are surely going to send the developers at Activision into panic mode. That’s because the Ranked Play is now available in the ongoing season. The mode is something a lot of players were hyped for.

Now, it seems like even the Ranked Play experience is not going to save Warzone 2. Yes, the aforementioned figures are just for Steam but one can assume the situation for other platforms as well going by the response of PC players so far.
