Rockstar Games has been responsible for many legendary games. It has created massive open-world titles with equally rewarding stories for fans to experience and enjoy. One such series, the Red Dead franchise, has played a massive part in their popularity.

The first entry in the series, Read Dead Revolver, was released in 2004. Since then, this Western-themed third-person shooter video game franchise has gotten better with each new release. Its popularity seems to have peaked with Red Dead Redemption 2. With new releases and expansions being announced by developers right now, fans were left a little disappointed on the Red Dead front and took to Twitter to express their disappointment with Rockstar Games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably among the best titles Rockstar Games worked on. The return to the wild west was much appreciated by fans after 8 long years since the last game in the series was released.

However, while the game is seemingly perfect, there is no content expansion available as was for previous games. Fans wanted more stories to experience. If not from Arthur or John’s perspective, then from another character in the game.

One fan went on to describe not providing DLC for a narrative as rich as Red Dead Redemption 2 as “one of the biggest crimes in gaming history”.

The tweet saw a lot of support from like-minded fans, looking for expansions for Red Dead Redemption 2. The only expansions available for Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment allow for singular missions and cosmetic upgrades.

One fan proposed his ideas for the DLC. He suggested remaking the first Red Dead Redemption as well as Undead Nightmares for the game. Moreover, he suggested bringing Mexico as a playable area for players to explore.

Another fan suggested using a retelling of the events at Blackwater. The Blackwater is an incident repeatedly referred through the course of the game. Based on the conversations characters have in-game, fans deduced Blackwater was a heist that went south for the gang. It sets up the entire narrative of Red Dead Redemption 2. Exploring it could be an interesting idea, giving a rich background to the gang.

Is DLC for Red Dead Redemption in the works?

There is a lot of speculation about what Rockstar Games is currently working on. Quite secretive about the progress and status of their projects, Rockstar rarely reveals what they are working on at the moment. With rumors swirling around the announcement of GTA 6 following its leak from September 2022, the Grand Theft Auto series seems to be on priority.
