Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie, is a giant name in the world of YouTube. For over five years, he held the title of the biggest independent creator on the platform, alongside setting a world record for the longest time as the biggest channel on YouTube.

However, his colossal fame came at a cost. Despite receiving recognition from all over the world, he also faced severe criticism and backlash due to some of his reckless acts and poor choice of words. To escape from these problems, PewDiePie turned to drinking regularly.

How did PewDiePie fight his alcohol addiction?

PewDiePie faced serious backlash due to the controversies that were brewing because of his sub-war against T-Series. He admitted to drinking every single day, confessing that he realized he was getting addicted when he tried to cut down on it. “This is all during the time of my controversies,” he said. 

“I was dealing with a lot of stress, probably the most stressed I have ever been… I wanted to escape these emotions by drinking, and also I was addicted to YouTube. I was so scared of losing YouTube. I was feeling one addiction because of the fear of losing another addiction. To me, it had gone to a point it felt pathetic. I needed to finally uproot those cravings.”

After this experience, PewDiePie completely cut down on his addictions. After a while, he reached a position where both alcohol and nicotine had no more effects on his life. He had a newfound respect for people who are suffering from these addictions.

The period between 2018-2020 was one of the most tumultuous times for PewDiePie. During this time, Felix faced one of the biggest challenges in his YouTube career. His throne at the top of YouTube was challenged by the Indian music label, T-Series. With the help of his massive following, PewDiePie started a movement against his opponent, which later became known as the “sub-wars.”

This clash between the colossal YouTube pages became a very controversial topic on the internet. While both channels were winning millions of new subscribers every day, other YouTubers were also benefiting from the limelight by participating in the war. One of these creators was MrBeast, who later surpassed PewDiePie.
