The game met the expectations of a vast majority of fans. But still, fans craved even more. Mods came into the picture to fill that void. Now, after a couple of months since its launch, data leaks show that there was even more content in Hogwarts Legacy, which got scrapped. This system might have provided even more magical and academic depth into the narrative of the game.

Hogwarts Legacy and its scrapped Reputation System
While reading the Harry Potter books or watching the movies, one thing that surely might have caught the audience’s eyes is the house points system. Snape deducts points from Harry and his friends, whereas Dumbledore’s last-minute point giveaways have always enthralled the fans. According to reports, this popular aspect was present in the game as well.
GrandTheftDiamonds, a YouTuber divulged into data mining Hogwarts Legacy and found this intriguing aspect which Avalanche decided to not pursue. Apparently, there was a house point system in the game. They oriented this unique system around the behavior of the players and were heavily dependent on each and every action that they make.

A rough estimate found through data mining shows that using a killing curse would have taken away -100 points from a house. Whereas, using spells like Imperius to control a foe’s mind costs -50 points. The developers even had the idea to include bullying point deduction. Let it be any game. Many gamers love to mess around the NPCs a lot. Thus, introducing this system would have been a unique touch.
For bullying, 25 points would have been deducted. Whereas extortion and stealing from others would cost up to -50 points. This does not mean point deduction was the only addition to the system. Players could also gain points through attending classes, club participation, and many other activities. These would give a player points ranging from 10 to 20.

One interesting factor we have seen in academic-oriented open-world games is the ever-guarding eye of authority. In the popular Bully title by Rockstar Games, prefects walk around the campus to catch any misdemeanors. Avalanche also had planned something similar for Hogwarts Legacy. Reportedly this system might also have worked around the mechanisms of severity. That is, the bigger crime you commit, the more attention of the authority you get.
