Time for another round of leaks. This time around its from the upcoming Resident Evil: Village. A rumored playtest leak of the game made its round online that revealed much about the 10th main installment in the Resident Evil series. The survival horror by Capcom is a fan-favorite. The game has had many installments and some spin-offs.

The game comes as a sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Announced at the PlayStation 5 event, the game will make its way to PC, PS5, and the Xbox Series X. The official description of the game can be read below:

“Years after the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Ethan Winters has started over with his wife Mia, finally living in peace and putting the past behind them. However, Chris Redfield, the legendary hero from previous Resident Evil games, suddenly disrupts their life, throwing a devastated Ethan into a new and twisted nightmare in search of answers.”

The leak came from Biohazard declassified. The most interesting factor from the leak was that the game was run on a PS4 Pro. The game is allegedly a next-gen exclusive, however, that just might not be the case. The leak comes from someone who took part in the Capcom’s Ambassador program.

Resident Evil – Setting

Surprisingly, the source mentioned the game set inside a castle. While players did expect to reach the castle at one point, it could be very early in the game.

“Most rooms were bright but few bedrooms were dark. The segment was somewhere within the castle on a higher level and you needed to find a key to open a big door downstairs.”

Weapons & Inventory

The rumored playtest had a handgun, shotgun, and a knife available to the players. The knife is, apparently, unbreakable. Players can also pick up other melee weapons that will eventually break off with use. You can also break vases and crates to find items.

The inventory screen is seemingly similar to that of Resident Evil 7. The game also pauses when you enter the inventory screen.

Helping hand?

The old-woman that was showcased in the trailer is apparently not a foe. She is more of a merchant, according to the leak. Players might be able to buy things off from the woman.

Enemies in Resident Evil

The enemies within these areas are very pale, almost rotten skin, with tattoos on their foreheads and hands. Some with armor, but not like knight armor, that can also be shot off.”

The enemies seem normal, meaning, this could be from the initial stage in the game. The trailer gave us a glimpse of Werewolves-type enemies and players could encounter the same in the latter half of the game.

The enemies carried different weapons and spoke in an unfamiliar language as reported by the leaker. Their actions were also very similar to that of Resident Evil 3. Enemies seem to inflict high damage and can even behead Ethan with a sword.

Boss fight

The boss fight also seems to be gruesome, as usual. The boss described is named Olga and is supposedly the witch we saw earlier. The witch can transform into a creature that players will fight and kill. Even after the defeat, the insects remain, and killing them would be the best way forward.

“In this boss fight, players grabbed a torch to use fire to scare her insects off to get Olga exposed to shoot her. After a bit of shooting, she’ll transform into this insect/spider-like creature with long spider legs and releasing more insects coming out from her insect-like bottom. Her human remains are still there, but naked and covered with black goo.”

The game is still under works and has no official release date, as of yet. It will launch sometime in 2021. Keep in mind that all these are rumors and nothing has been confirmed. If they do come out true, then it just makes things much more exciting.
