Nintendo released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge as a side-scrolling mayhem title worldwide. It was a one-stop destination, featuring action-packed gameplay rooted in timeless classic brawling mechanics. Fighting genre experts, Dotemu (creators of Streets of Rage 4) had developed this game alongside Tribute Games, who brought it to life.
For those uninitiated, the game’s inspiration, roots back in its classic animated series that came out in 1987.

Fans highly appreciated the game’s release as they ranked it higher than the 1991’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.’However, they only had issues a few issues, as the developers had neglected them during production. To mention in detail, the developers had limited its graphics to the ones seen in Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Although, there was one slight issue with the game’s runtime, as players did not approve of such a quick completion. To mention numbers, the game only requires a short 2½ hours period to complete.
There are multiple reasons for this, like the game having a single ending, no sub-branches, or extra content. Apart from that, avid gamers reported taking around an additional 30 minutes to get 100% completion.

Shredder’s Revenge offers two game modes, one being the campaign mode while the other as an arcade. In the arcade mode, players have limited lives and no checkpoints, just like the other arcade titles released. On the other side, the campaign mode offers players unlimited lives and checkpoints while also including additional hidden collectibles and challenges.

As a result, fans did not find this sufficient as they were expecting much more from this classic title. It indirectly affected the game’s sales, as Nintendo could not earn much from it.
