Bella Ramsey had to face a lot of criticism when the news first broke out that she would be appearing as Ellie on the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. Many fans stated that the young English actress doesn’t have a similar appearance to Ellie from the game. Some even went on to ask Ellie to be re-cast for the show.

However, things changed after the show aired, as fans fell in love with Ramsey’s portrayal of Ellie. But now they have started wondering if she would be re-cast for the second season where Ellie is a 19-year-old as the age differentiation on her appearance won’t be observable. While Bella is currently playing a 14-year-old Ellie, the actress cleared the air by revealing via a tweet that she won’t be recast.

The English actress is 19 years old in real life, so she would be playing a character of her actual age in season 2. Ramsey told on the podcast with Josh Horowitz, “I’ll be 20 probably by the time we shoot that and I’ll be playing 19. Yeah so, I will be closer to my age.”

While Bella Ramsey confirmed that Ellie will not be recast, fans are also concerned about Pedro Pascal’s future in the series. If the HBO adaptation follows the events in the second game, Pascal’s future in the second series will be short.

But she also gave a subtle hint that Pedro Pascal could get less screen time. She said, “So I just have to go into it being like, ‘This is Season 2 and I loved Season 1, but this is going to be different.’ I just want to be back in Canada with Craig Mazin and Pedro (Pascal) for a little bit. It’s gonna be really nice. I’m really excited.”
