In TGS 2023, we got to witness the long-awaited reveal trailer of the action-adventure odyssey, Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi. This title was developed by two indie developers, who happen to be brothers, Andrea Marsili and Marco Marsili, and published by Neon Doctrine. Both of them perfectly depict the immersive gameplay.

Now, after looking at the gameplay, fans are finding some uncanny resemblances between this game and two other titles in this genre: Abzu and Journey. Both of these games emphasized mainly the graphics. There was hardly any combat or dialogue in the game. (Although there will be a large amount of combat in Altheia.) But fans still immersed themselves in the stunning visuals of the games. All you need to do is traverse through breathtaking environments and evocative music.

In Journey, you won’t be getting any instructions on how to play this game, but as you dive into the game, the subtle environment and your instincts will guide you through your journey. It’s like you were born for this. Also, you will find some companions on your way through, but you can’t communicate with these real-time players. But surprisingly, after playing for some time together, you will find a deep connection and bond between both of you without a single word being spoken. That’s the magic of the gameplay.

Altheia: The wrath of Aferi is also going to be something like this. No, not like a carbon copy; we are talking about visual storytelling. Witnessing this immersive and outstanding visual storytelling, it can be stated that Altheia is following in the footsteps of games like Journey and Abzu.

The storyline of the game

This game is the most ambitious project of MarsLit Games, an indie-developing company set up by these two brothers. This game has been inspired by the movies of Hayao Miyazaki and Mamoru Hosoda, two of the most famous Japanese manga artists and animators. In Altheia, you have to fill the shoes of Lili, a girl who has to struggle a lot alone as she just lost her mother.
