With the video game industry going on through the advancement phase of its technology, it is no surprise that a certain level of competition might be soon cooking. With hand-held consoles trying to copy the technology from other console makers, it is no surprise that the companies will try to pull each other down. The same is the case with Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.

But the matter of fact is, both Nintendo and Steam are not pulling each other down, instead it’s their fan base doing the work for them. Thus, there needs to be a proper point of view to know what exactly the banter is about.

In recent months, a surge of Nintendo players putting up the good word for Steam Deck had bothered the core Nintendo fanbase. This has in fact made it harder for the company to keep a balance between the games it makes and the speed it needs to release them individually.

The actual problem that occurs is the fact that Nintendo, despite earning billions in sales, is still not making high-graphic and ultra-realistic games for its players. While on the other hand, Steam Deck allows players to play PC-heavy games to be played in a handheld device. Thus, it gives a contrasting view on why one is making its name while the other is falling down the ladder.

Even though Nintendo has a history with fans for not providing new stuff more often, it surely has a fan base that loves the way it produces kids-like games for basically everyone. Whereas platforms like PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox are constantly trying to make games better than what their consoles can even handle.

Why is there a dichotomy then?

This constant grinding and constant ignoring of fan choices have thus led to some questions. If Nintendo can produce family-friendly games, then why do gamers have a problem with that? If Steam Deck plays games that can be played on PC, then why does someone need it?

The answer to both of them lies in the fact that Nintendo has not changed even a bit over a decade, as they keep on pushing their luck with the same tried and proven formula from the last century. Whereas Steam Deck is just proving itself to be a handheld console for players who have a low budget to not buy a full-fledged PC or PlayStation or Xbox.
