Currently occupying the third position in the list of top-grossing animated movies, Mario’s cinematic journey sits closely behind the remade version of The Lion King and Frozen 2. Super Mario has generated a staggering $1.288 billion at the worldwide box office.  The movie has garnered an astounding $560 million from domestic box office sales and an additional $727 million from international territories. It has successfully surpassed the record set by Frozen a decade ago, which stood at a staggering $1.284 billion.

If the movie continues its impressive run for a little while longer, it has the potential to surpass Incredibles 2’s lifetime earnings at the domestic box office. If the Mario movie adventure earns $609 million more in the domestic market, it will earn the place of the highest-grossing animated film of all time in the United States.

Considering the current circumstances, achieving these milestones would require nothing short of a miracle.
