Fortnite will always be the perfect instance while talking about ‘Popular battle royal titles’. Since its release in 2017, this game has changed the scenario of battle royales around the world. Right now, this title might be the most popular on the planet.
But recently, in 2023, this title has faced a major decline compared to the past. Today, this game doesn’t pack the same punch it used to in earlier years. Despite all of this, this game has recently broken a record. What record? Let’s find out.
Fortnite breaks the all-time record for the concurrent player count

Recently, on August 25, 2023, Fortnite launched Chapter 4 of Season 4, called The Last Resort. In this chapter, Fortnite has broken the record for the most concurrent players.
In Chapter 4, as of now, this epic battle royale title has peaked at a concurrent player count of 2.81 million players on the third day of the ongoing season. The player count on the previous two days of season 4 was 2.43 million and 2.73 million, respectively. This breaks the previous record, which was set in season 3. The concurrent player counts for the first 3 days of season 3 were 1.94 million, 1.87 million, and 2.12 million, respectively.

Although this doesn’t take into consideration the stats from Chapter 1, Epic Games revealed the player count publicly in March. So, this is the first official benchmark from Fortnite. This staggering record would be much higher, as this benchmark doesn’t consider the creative mode. This metric is only based on the Zero Build Battle Royale and OG Battle Royale modes.
Why so many are jumping at Battle Royale Arean of this title?
So, what’s the reason behind this huge leap in this current chapter? The answer is in the chapter itself. Chapter 4 of Season 4 is exactly an upgraded version of the fan-favorite Chapter 2 of Season 2. It seems this chapter has brought twice the joy that Chapter 2 of Season 2 gave us. The heist theme of the ongoing chapter is taking players back to the golden era of Fortnite.

Both the chapters from different seasons, set apart by 3 years but connected with the newly introduced Kado Thorne’s Time Machine. So, players can dive into Chapter 2 of Season 2 of the game, dated way back on March 25, 2020.
The story doesn’t end here. The introduction of a brand new map, new items, and new weapons are big reasons for the high player count. Players have already started loving crazy items like the Rocket Ram, the Business Turrets, the Heist Bag, and many more. Fans are already ecstatic with the three new weapons: the Imflitator Pump Shotgun, Scoped Burst SMG, and Twing Mag Assault Rifle.

Fortnite may not be at its peak as it used to be. But still, the game has a special place in all of its players’ hearts. That’s why there are more than 2.40 million concurrent players in this game. We, the Fortnite fans, are just hoping this count gets bigger and bigger shortly.
