Eugenie Bouchard Continues Astonishing Comeback, Reaches Prague Open 2020 Quarterfinals After Epic Three-Setter

Eugenie Bouchard juggernaut has reached the quarterfinals of the Prague Open after the Canadian beat Tamara Zidansek 7-6 6-7 6-2 in a three-hour-long thriller. It’s another great victory for Bouchard as she beat Zidansek who is ranked 71st, 259 places above Bouchard. It’s a great comeback for the Canadian.
From the starting of the match, Bouchard looked strong. Bouchard constantly attacked Zidansek especially her second serve. Both the players were hitting strong baseline strokes.

Bouchard’s last match lasted over an hour, but this match was around three hours long. A hard gritty win for the Canadian. Bouchard will face third seed Elise Mertens in the Quarterfinals.
A fourth main-draw victory for Eugenie Bouchard in 2020
A very topsy turvy first set, with both the players breaking each other’s serve multiple times. And so the set went into the tiebreaker. Here Bouchard showed resilience and clinched the tiebreaker comfortably at 7-2 and the set 7-6.

Taking momentum from the first set Bouchard looked set for a victory. And she even broke Zidansek’s serve first. But gave away the break later. Zidansek made a quick recovery and looked strong on her serve. And once again a tiebreaker was needed to separate the two. Zidansek attacked Bouchard from the first point itself and won the tiebreaker 7-2 and the set 7-6. Thus leveling the match.
In the 3rd set, Bouchard broke Zidansek in the very first game itself. But Zidansek wasn’t making life easy for the Canadian. Bouchard kept pushing. The Canadian in the first two sets gave away the break advantage. But in the third, she got her second break at 4-1, effectively asserting her claim over the match.

Bouchard is ranked 330 and so she received a wildcard to play in the main draw. This win will propel her inside the top-300. She continues her charge to reach the top once again. She will have to bypass a lot of big players.
