Everything you need to know about the Ganguly Shastri Controversy

Since the selection of Anil Kumble as the Head coach of the Indian National Cricket team, the controversy regarding Ganguly giving the interview of Ravi Shastri a miss has popped up. Few sources have revealed that Ravi Shastri was disappointed by this attitude of Ganguly and stated this as disrespectful to the post assigned to Ganguly. However, other sources have revealed that the reason behind Ganguly not attending the interview session of Shastri was genuine and he had other important commitments.

The advisory members of the panel – Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and coordinator Sanjay Jagdale had already been notified about Ganguly missing the interview. Nevertheless, it appears that the Cricket Advisory Committee hadn’t informed Ravi Shastri that one of its members would not be present at his interview for the position of India coach and this  seems to be the foremost reason of the controversy. Ganguly was briefed on Shastri’s presentation by the other advisory members of the panel – Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and coordinator Sanjay Jagdale , when he rejoined them.Thus, the issue doesn’t seem to be as big as media has made it and the controversy seems to be have come up just due to some genuine reasons.

According to the the most recent updates on the controversy, Ganguly has reacted back saying that he was hurt by Ravi Shastri’s comments and it was has not his sole decision to give the job to Anil Kumble.
