EXCLUSIVE: Matt Hardy on His and Jeff Hardy’s Longevity in Wrestling: “People Thought We’re Not Gonna be Able to Walk by the Time We’re 40”

WWE Legends Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy have been wrestling for almost three decades now. Starting their careers in the mid-90s, the duo is still going on strong.

Recently, though, WWE fired Jeff Hardy because he refused to check into rehab. And since then the fans are waiting for the Charismatic Enigma to show up in Tony Khan’s promotion.

In an exclusive interview with us, one half of the Hardy Boyz, Matt Hardy, revealed the secret for his longevity in the pro-wrestling business.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with us, the former WWE United States champion confessed that he and his brother Jeff Hardy are lucky to be competing in today’s time.

The Hardy Boyz have built a career by putting their bodies on the line and amusing the crowd with their innovative tactics.

However, Matt also added that WWE veterans believed that the Hardy Boyz will not be able to wrestle by their 40s because of their extreme style.

“Luck. So many people who were the [WWE] Vets at the time, when we first started wrestling, and the style, we wrestled, which is almost like the modern-day style today, and especially doing all the ladder matches and table matches, and TLC matches, so many people thought, ‘oh my God, you’re not gonna be able to, you know, walk by the time you’re 40,’ or whatever it was, you know, because we did so much more than they did back in the day.”

Eventually, Matt stated that they took care of their bodies after matches and took calculated risks while performing the stunts.

“So I think between just like, taking care of ourselves, and just also luck is one of the things well, we’ve both been very lucky and just trying to be smart with our decision making about really, when to take the calculated risk and when not to,” he said.

With Jeff now not in WWE, the fans just can’t help but speculate that the Charismatic Enigma will join the likes of his brother to reunite The Hardy Boyz in AEW.
