Brundle Warns F1 to Not Be Deceived by ‘Choir Boy Looks’ of Norris Amid His Fearless Move on Leclerc

For many, Lando Norris is still considered an underrated driver on the F1; people believe he’s not on the same level as Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. However, F1 legend and commentator, Martin Brundle thinks otherwise.

Brundle has stated that Norris is a great driver and seeing his moves around Monza at the Italian Grand Prix has made him one of the most talked-about drivers in the paddock. Each team on the grid sees the young Brit with loads of potential.

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running this season, picking up four podiums along the way. As it stands, Norris finds himself in fourth place with 132 points to his name. Seeing the growth of Norris, Brundle knows he is a force to be reckoned with.

On his blog on SkySports, Brundle wrote, “Norris’s youthful and almost choir boy looks and demeanour are a very light veneer over an extremely brave racer. His move past Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari at Curva Grande, partly on the grass at one point, was totally fearless.

“Without his crash through saturated Eau Rouge up to Raidillon he would have had a mighty qualifying and therefore result in the previous non-race in Spa too. As Lando says, his time will come and he’s one of the hottest properties in F1 right now,” he concluded.

Norris aides McLaren in achieving a great finish at Monza

Daniel Ricciardo started P2 while Norris was behind him in P3, already giving hope to the Woking-based outfit. As the Australian stole the lead from the start, the team were optimistic about getting a good result.

Ricciardo was leading the pack, while his younger teammate was following him. Instead of being selfish, Lando played team player, as he knew it would risk the chances of achieving a good result.

The team had a one-two finish in Italy with Ricciardo taking the checkered flag, and Norris, second place. With such a great victory in Monza, the Papaya team look to repeat the same in Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix.
