Earlier, Kevin Magnussen confessed that the Netflix series, “Formula One: Drive to Survive” embellished a few things. The Haas F1 driver largely referred to the relationship between himself and teammate Romain Grosjean. Apparently, he is not the only one who feels that way, as McLaren’s Carlos Sainz said the same thing.

However, the Spaniard alluded to his supposed rivalry with Daniel Ricciardo during the 2019 season. According to Sainz, Netflix took some liberties with their rivalry during the second season the docu-series.

The duo were the focus of all eyes during the third episode of season 2, which documented the McLaren-Renault championship fight. Eventually, McLaren emerged as the victors and snatched fourth spot iand the ‘Best of the Rest’ tag. Sainz’ personal victories over Ricciardo were at the Azerbaijan and Spanish rounds.

The Spaniard believed that the rivalry got blown out of proportion. In Netflix’ defence, he admitted that the series excelled in boosting interest in F1, especially in the United States.

What did Carlos Sainz say?

“It was good I enjoyed it,” Sainz confessed. “The rivalry with Daniel was a bit exaggerated, but at the same time for our US fans, the amount of people that are coming to me to say how thrilled they were with the episodes and how thrilled they are with the program, I think is making a great effect in F1.”

“So they sometimes exaggerate a bit the rivalry I still welcome it and I think is a great thing for F1, and why not dramatise everything a bit further, I think it is fine.”
