Recently, Aston Martin Racing pulled off an unexpected move following the exit of Otmar Szafnauer, former team principal and one of the most trusted members of the British outfit. Many anticipated AMR to hand over Szafnauer’s role to the newly recruited Martin Whitmarsh.

The ex-McLaren CEO has a strong history of handling multiple roles at the same time. Hence, it almost looked like Aston Martin would do the same with the 63-year-old Briton. But, then arrived a shocking turnaround, as Lawrence Stroll, instead, appointed Mike Krack, the former Sauber BMW F1 team head.
