Mick doesn’t know any other way,” he said. “I think that had he grown up to this point and then Michael had his accident, it may be different.

Because it happened when he was younger, I think, in the end, young boys, young men adapt to whatever their life situation is.”

The year Michael went into a coma, Mick stepped up and started working his way through quite a lot of racing series. Eventually, he landed in Formula 3 for the 2017 season. From there, it has been a steep rise for Schumacher Jr. Now, the entire Formula 1 paddock is awaiting the return of ‘Schumacher’ into the industry after 8 years.

The former British racer is looking quite eager to witness Mick race around in a Formula 1 car by next season. Despite his father not being in a position to guide the young German, he still managed to maintain his trajectory to the top.

Coulthard credited the Schumacher family for encouraging Mick into racing. “With Mick, we have a very nice young man who happens to be winning the Formula 2 championship,” he said.
