VCARB is what everyone has been calling the Visa Cash App Red Bull Formula One team, which can be a mouthful. The team has changed its identity after running with the name AlphaTauri. With the inception of the team as Toro Rosso, CEO Peter Bayer has decided to take a step towards change, embracing new sponsors, a new name, and a fresh take on the team.

In a conversation with The Athletic, Peter Bayer came forth to discuss the direction the team was taking. Sick of being considered the B team of Red Bull, Bayer has decided to give the team a new identity of its own. But neither the fans nor the drivers look like they are used to the new name.

In the interview with The Athletic, while the team was discussing the rebrand, Daniel Ricciardo was asked about the team name. When asked “What is VCARB?” Ricciardo replied, VCARB. Yeah. You’ve gotta get your vitamins and your carbohydrates. Known for his humorous takes, the Honey Badger broke up the abbreviation into V for Vitamins and CARB for carbohydrates.

While a serious answer was expected, Ricciardo couldn’t help but be himself with the reply. Ricciardo had already mentioned his views on the name change on the day of its announcement. During the announcement of the rebrand on X, the 34-year-old driver took to the comments section to post “New name, new colours, lezgobaybee!” While initially, Ricciardo’s focus was celebrating the new identity, now that things have started to settle down, he has started to make jokes about the same.

But the name of the team was not all that Ricciardo spoke about. He also stated the team’s goal, which is “not just be seen as a junior Red Bull team.” He continued, “It feels like we can actually really grow this thing and develop something pretty awesome.” Ricciardo’s expectations for the team’s future are high. He added, “It’s time will tell if that’s a quick thing or if it’s a process over the course of a few years. But I think it’s really time for all the others to take this team seriously.”

Along with Ricciardo’s comments on the rebrand, Peter Bayer had a lot to say about the direction the team was heading.

When Peter Bayer spoke to The Athletic, he explained the history of the team being acquired from Minardi. When the team didn’t work out, Red Bull stepped in and started Toro Rosso. Bayer explained how the change into Scuderia AlphaTauri was based on the 2020 clothing brand by Red Bull.

“A complete new identity” is what Bayer believes the change to the Visa Cash App Red Bull team will signify. The team has changed name, bringing in new leadership, and a new focus on independence. He also mentioned how he is aware of the talks around the paddocks of being a B team, but said that the team has grown from its early stages and is ready to set themselves as competitors for the top of the midfield.
