With a win at the Turkish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton became the most accomplished Formula 1 driver of all time. He equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of most championship wins. He also holds the record of most career pole positions, race wins, podiums and points.

Following his achievements, reports speculate Hamilton to be on the list for Knighthood. The Prime Minister of UK, Boris Johnson, personally recommended Hamilton for the honor.

The comparison debate between Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are endless. However, it is difficult to compare the two as both hit their prime during different eras. Meanwhile, David Coulthard stated that Schumacher and Hamilton would be staring eye to eye.

He said, “There is no question that if Michael was still racing today, at his prime, he would be staring in the eyes of his equal [Hamilton].

“Because I think Michael is exceptional and I think Lewis is exceptional. And I think the way that he won his championship in Istanbul was the perfect way to show how good he is.”

Coulthard gives his views on the Hamilton-Schumacher debate

Lewis Hamilton had broken every record except most title wins. However, he equaled the record with a championship drive at Istanbul Park, conjuring up a sensational drive and winning the race after starting from P6.

Coulthard explained that in his opinion, Hamilton is arguable the best to drive in Formula 1. He said, “Coming from sixth on the grid, in very difficult conditions and to win by what was quite a big margin in the end.”

“So there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that he is the real deal and not only is he one of the best drivers of his generation, arguably he is one of the best drivers in the history of the sport,” he further added.

Rest assured, Hamilton will still look forward to making the most points at the triple header in Bahrain. However, Hamilton’s contract expires at the end of the season. It remains to be seen what plans he has for the coming seasons.
