Yesterday the irony was at its height when the two teams at one point last year battling for Oscar Piastri‘s services shared the podium at the Belgian track. However, in the late hours when the rookie posted a picture on social media, he yet again showed his contempt for his former squad. In that action, Pierre Gasly had to shoulder the brunt. So what happened, and why did Piastri’s post grasp the lights?

If you look at the Melburnian driver’s resume, you’ll see that apart from being the driver for McLaren and he was a backup driver for Alpine in the past. The F2 champion was set to debut in the world of motorsports with Alpine, and everything was arranged for it to happen. However, the 22-year-old rejected the offer, claiming that Alpine lacked transparency and there had been a “breakdown in trust” between him and the French team, which ultimately caused him to walk away from the squad that had hired him as a backup driver.

Twitter F1 users weigh in on Oscar Paistri’s bold move against the former team

Due to McLaren’s dismal performance the previous year, Alpine was able to defeat the Papaya Army and finish fourth in the constructor’s championship. Due to this at that moment, Piastri’s decision was not seen favorably, and given how Mclaren had initially fared this season, suspicions were only going to prove to be legitimate.

Though the Woking-based team’s midseason comeback has given them some hope for the remainder of the campaign as they appear to be progressing well enough that they could easily surpass the French team this year. Nevertheless, what is currently in the foreground is the attention Piastri received as a result of his recent audacious actions. Given the history of Piastri one supporter even claimed that Piastri “Doesn’t want even a Bit of alpine.”
