Callum Ilott may not experience the same fate as his F2 counterpart, Mick Schumacher. Both of them perform sensationally in F2. However, Ilott’s seat in Haas for 2021 is not strong as Schumacher’s seat in Alfa Romeo. Haas principal, Guenther Steiner, clarified that Ilott is still not on their list of line-ups for drivers.

The Nurburgring race may be an enormous deal for many. However, for the two young racers from F2, it is an opportunity to make the leap into F1. Ilott will try his luck at the Haas cockpit and Mick, possibly at the Alfa Romeo.

Guenther Steiner has been verbose about his decision at Nurburgring. The 21-year-old Englishman is yet to make it to their driver’s shortlist. On being questioned in the context, the chief rendered some points that are reasonable. He said“I don’t think tomorrow is about him getting in there; Tomorrow for us is actually trying to get something out of it, to see how he works.”

Mick Schumacher Reportedly Has Options at Haas F1 and Alfa Romeo for 2021: Here’s How

The Haas team are in a dilemma about their driver line-up

Guenther Steiner had earlier announced that nothing is a ‘no-brainer’ for Haas. Looking at it from his perspective, the team has several options and would like to consider all of them. To start, they have Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg, two well experienced F1 racers. However, only time will tell which driver combination would benefit them the most.

The Hass team boss’ confusion regarding Ilott stands justified. He is correct in certain parts of the driver. To start, the driver isn’t theirs; he belongs to the FDA, and Ferrari may have other plans for him. Also, Haas would at least want to test and evaluate the racer once before integrating him onto their list.

“It will not depend on the FP1 result. If he does one thing which you know he shouldn’t be doing, then he’s not on the list for sure anymore—if he crashes the car.” replied the team chief.

Although the Ferrari juniors are not under much pressure, The Race asked Steiner whether it will be probable to cast at least one junior into the team. The probability isn’t far, and Steiner highlighted the same. He believed that the racers from F2 have been excellent and will meet proper evaluation.

“Absolutely, because they are in the fortunate position to have three good ones; So, for sure they put themselves in that position by picking them, they’re investing in the right guys; Being aligned with the engine with them, if we want young drivers for sure we will talk with them first.” replied Steiner
