If there is one driver who has undergone a transformation in the past year or so, it is Pierre Gasly. Since being demoted from Red Bull, he has built up quite a reputation for himself with AlphaTauri.

Perhaps the race victory at Monza emphasized on the efforts and mental strength he has accumulated over the months. And of course, with the win, came the added speculation.

It was earlier believed that a Pierre Gasly-Alex Albon swap was a possibility for the 2021 season; however, Red Bull’s Team Principal Christian Horner immediately shot down the rumors and insisted that the team had full faith in Albon.

That is, of course, what the F1 pundit and racing driver Paul di Resta has heard from his sources. In the post-race talk show, he and Nico Rosberg were deliberating over Gasly’s potential return to Red Bull.

Rosberg asked, “You’ve got Pierre Gasly, who is having an epic season. You know something that we don’t here, why is Gasly not going to be in that car next year?”

Paul Di Resta says Gasly won’t take his RBR seat back because he upset aome people at RB from r/formula1

To which, Di Resta responded and is quoted as saying, “I’m only talking about the whispers you hear up in the paddock. Somehow, he has upset a few people within Red Bull.”

If that is indeed the case, it would seem quite harsh on Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman has shown a lot in recent times. And has consistently been among the Top-10 race finishers, improving his credibility as a good racing driver.

Pierre Gasly outshone Alex Albon in the Red Bull yet again

Alex Albon, the man who replaced Gasly in the second Red Bull, faced an early retirement in the Eifel Grand Prix. After a collision with Daniil Kvyat, he even received a five-second penalty.

On the other hand, Gasly continued his fine form finishing P6 in the race. Despite being a little slow in qualifying, which saw him start P13, the Frenchman made-up the places in no time and drove quite well.

And if Gasly continues to perform in a manner akin to his form, one could soon see him moving to a team higher than AlphaTauri’s reputation. Because like with everything else in Formula 1, things can change at the drop of a hat.
